FLY FISHING ON THE LEHIGH RIVER - Monroe County Pocono Mountains, PA

 

The Lehigh River comes from the Lenape Indian name for river,  Lechewuekink

meaning "where there are forks".  It originates from a series of glacial bogs on the PoconoPlateau.  The upper portion of the Lehigh is considered a coldwater, freestone stream and has that characteristic Pocono tannic stain. Water is supplied to the Lehigh from three sources: snow melt, rain and feeder streams.

First day of Trout Fishing - Monroe County

 

This is the big day all the fishermen have been waiting for - first day of trout season.
