SATURDAY OCTOBER 5
JOEL HILL SAWMILL CIDER & DOUGHNUTS DAY 11:00AM TO 3:00PM
The beauty of the leaves reflected in the Joel Hill Sawmill pond make the last day of tours & sawing at the old mill a bittersweet event. The new Cleveland Museum of early industrial machinery will also be open. The sawmill runs solely on water power, as it did in the latter part of the 1800’s, drawing its water supply from the lake at Duck Harbor. Watch volunteers jockey the big logs onto the cradle in order to run them through the huge saw blade. Tour the mill with a narrator who will explain the process and the machinery in use. It’s a great outing for kids and adults. The Equinunk Historical Society in the center of Equinunk will be open at noon. Tour the museum & gift shop there.
JOEL HILL SAWMILL – A Property of Equinunk Historical Society
Equinunk – The mill is located off Rte. 191, the Hancock Highway. Watch for signs near Lookout. Follow Creek Rd. a short distance to its end, turn right and immediately left, the mill is ahead on your left.
