Friday April 19th

8:30pm - Community Forest Bathing

The Lodge at Woodloch, Hawley PA

$30

You may have heard the term forest bathing on ABC News, BBC or the Travel Channel.

But what is forest bathing?

The term forest bathing, or Shinrin-Yoku, sounds a little more exotic than it is, but the effects are monumental. There is growing research that supports the Far East tradition and understanding that spending time in the deep woods has profound healing power. Over time, forest bathing can produce quantifiable changes in the body and mind. Plus, the added benefit is that it just feels good. Learn about the philosophy and practice and receive practical tips on how to carry on with the practice at home.

Saturday April 20th

9:00am - National Junior Ranger Day

Steamtown National History Site, Scranton PA

Free

We’re kicking off National Park Week with National Junior Ranger Day on April 20, 2019!

The Junior Ranger Program is a great way to explore national parks, get some cool swag, and maybe even one of those coveted hats the rangers wear! Well…okay. Yours might be made out of paper, but you’ll still rock it! You’ll also learn why national parks matter and how you can be a part of the team that helps keep parks healthy.

We don’t care what age you are–just come to “explore, learn, and protect” your national parks and became an official Junior Ranger!

9:00am - Ricketts Glen State Park Falls Trail System Hike

Ricketts Glen State Park, Benton PA

John Jakoby will lead this approximate 3.3-mile hike through the Glens Natural Area. This is a moderate to difficult hike. From the Lake Rose Trailhead parking area we will hike down Ganoga Glen passing 10 waterfalls to Water Meet then back up through Glen Leigh viewing 8 more waterfalls with the tallest being 60 feet. We will pick up the Highland Trail and hike relatively flat terrain through Midway Crevasse back to the parking area. Bring water, a snack if you like, and your camera. Wear sturdy shoes as the trails may be slippery and there may still be some of winter’s ice. We will meet at the Ricketts Glen Park Office parking area at 9:00 A.M. To register or for more information contact John Jakoby at 570-474-5884.
