On the deck at Nick's Lake House - Lake Harmony PA

After the 4th’s fireworks scene at Nick’s Lake House practically melted me into the lakeside lawn (see previous blog), I decided it deserved a visit all its own.

It just so happened that a band called Separate Roads was playing dockside recently, so my mission was pretty straightforward. Go. Dance. Have fun.

The gig ran from 6-10. Turns out there was room to park and plenty of time to party. The deck and dockside bar were already packed, with the crowd smiling, laughing and dancing away. From college kids to baby boomers the grins were a mile wide. Nick’s restaurant and deck bar is just outside of Split Rock Resort, where everyone is either on vacation or on a mission like mine. The atmosphere was electric!

It seemed like a whirlwind two hours of belted out blues and classic fried rock, with a lil' bit of southern sass mixed in. The female signer wailed, the band rocked, the deck...well it was probably screaming but who knows? Old friends and new packed the dock’s small dance floor and every patio table and bar seat in sight. Standing room only still left enough space to breathe and enjoy the scenery. The lake, the band, the birds, boats, people…they were all worth watching.

We didn’t explore the menu or sample any food this time, but the deck scene, that is a feast for the senses I will be back for!

Another tempting treat is to take a pontoon boat tour right off the dock. I didn’t explore that far yet but you can bet it will happen sooner or later. Lake Harmony isn’t a big lake. It isn’t a public lake. But the back entrance (off Rt. 903) is chock full of fun from cocktails and karaoke, to live music, fine filets and amazing breakfasts for anyone's Pocono weekend.
